Mermaid Mer-may-d. As most of you know, mermaids are half fish half women, there also can be mermen, merkids and merbabies. These are also known as merfolk. They live in the
ocean, though there are a few fresh water mermaids. I have written a poem about mermaids, it goes...........
We man the sail,
tighten the oars.
We sail straight
toward the shore.
A mermaid sits upon the shore,
she sings a beautiful song.
All the sailor's look ahead,
to see a tail that's long.
Her tail is a shimmering blue,
her eyes the colour of the sky.
We do not notice the rock ahead,
she is trying to make us die.
The ship creaks.
She turns around and swims away,
to leave us to our watery grave.
Our lives have ended on this day.
The mermaid with the tail of shimmering blue,
with the eyes the colour of the sky.
She watches the ship sail away.
Smiles and whispers "Good Bye"

I sometimes pretend,
that I'm swimming away,
gliding underneath the surface,
in the middle of the day,
like one of those creatures,
with their beautiful fins,
hair the colour of sunshine,
that turns the sailors into a spin.
How I envy them,
I'd just die for an invitation,
but I know I'll never be one,
so for now, I'll just use my imagination.

Atlantis is the mermaid's city! It is ruled my the king, Triten. It is supposedly suppoesed to be made out of all gold. In the movie "The Little Mermaid" Atlantis is all gold and Triten has 7 daughters, I love that movie.
I also have many, many, many different poems. These will be throughout the site.....
Watery She swims,
A mermaid,
In,
My third eye,
And,
The water flows,
Blurring,
My vision,
Yet,
I can't see her face,
But,
I know her touch,
Wondering,
Will I look forever?
Then,
What if I blink?
As,
She sunbathes,
On,
The bridge of my nose,
Cross my eyes,
Hope to die,
In,
Her arms.
they draw sailors and their ships onto the rocks. This makes the sailors die. In another legend, the mermaids have to get a sailor to love them, then the mermaid will turn imortal....
A MIDSUMMER NIGHT DREAM
Once I sat upon a promontory,
And heard a mermaid on a dolphins back
Uttering such dulcet and harmonious breath
That's the rude sea grew civil at her song
And certain stars shot madly from their spheres,
To hear the sea-maids song.
William Shakespeare
Silly red hair sliding through the water as the mermaid flips her tail.
She surfaces from the water,
In awe of the big white sails.
The humans are stunned bye her mysterious beauty and grace,
as she dives beneath the waves to hide form the human race.
I wish I could join her in peaceful salty sea.
If only these legs could turn to fins then the mermaid would be me.

Tidle waters
Drawing me....
Swim away
Peace and calm
Down below
Where the mermaids
Love to go
Golden city
Full of love
Not with hurting
Like land above
Longing to escape
From this misery
And dissapear forever
Beneth the sea.

Here are a few more poems about mermaids..........
Swim with me softly
Through seas thick with foam,
I am a Mermaid
And this is my home
,
" I am the soundless, boundless bitter Sea,
Out of whose depths, life wells eternally.
I am the soundless, boundless bitter Sea,
All things in the end shall return to me."
" I am the soundless, boundless, bitter Sea.
All tides are mine, and answer unto me.
Tides of the airs, tides of the inner earth;
The secret, silent tides of death and birth.
Tides of men's souls, and dreams, and destiny---
O Golden Mermaid appear to me,
Spirit of foam, rise from the Sea.
The hour of the full moon-tide draws near,
Hear the invoking words, draw near and appear
I have a few more so keep on reading......
I am the sea and the sea is in me.
Jacques-Yves Cousteau
Who would be a mermaid fair,
Singing alone, combing her hair
Under the sea in a golden curl,
With a comb of pearl
