News on Austin/Rikishi feud
Last night on Raw, we saw Rikishi and Stone Cold Steve Austin confront each other for the first time since the former was revealed to be the "hit and run" driver just over a week ago. I've been hearing that the wwf kept these two apart last week because they don't want this feud to end to quicker than it should by having them meet immediately, allowing for a lot more variety between these two in the coming weeks. Anyway, on Raw we saw Rikishi come close to running down Austin for the second time, in the same parking lot in which the crime took place last November. By having these two work this segment the wwf were hoping to signal Rikishi's intent on trying to put Austin out of the game for good, seeing as he failed last time. Also the wwf want to put across the message that Rikishi is a formidable force and not just someone who is running scared from The Rattlesnake. By having Rikishi nearly mow down Austin again, the wwf are showing that Austin must also watch his back in the coming weeks, as opposed to the general view that if will be a matter of "when" rather than "if" Stone Cold gets his hands on Rikishi. Rikishi will hopefully get over as a huge heel by going after Austin and showing that he's capable of being "the hunter rather than the hunted" against Austin.
Rikishi to be given gimmick change
Still talking of Rikishi, he is expected to undergo a huge gimmick revamp in the coming weeks, to accommodate his recent heel turn. Possible changes could include a new entrance theme, as his old music was one that was guaranteed to draw a big face pop when heard by the crowd. As Rikishi's gimmick up until now has consisted largely of a positive fan reaction from the crowd, the wwf will be taking steps to cancel out the "good" aspects of his role and build his gimmick around a mean, ruthless type of character to help him get over as a big heel. On a side note, the wwf were said to have been pleased with the heel heat that Rikishi drew when he showed up on the Titantron to challenge Stone Cold last night on Raw. You may already know that there was a lot of concern over the way the fans reacted to Rikishi being revealed as the culprit on last week's Raw, so this definitely looks like a step in the right direction as far as Rikishi's role is concerned. The way Rikishi insulted Jonathon Coachman during their interview, tried to claim credit for The Rock's success and attempted to run Austin over for a second time was said to have gone down well with the fans.
News on Eddie Guerrero's 'injury'
Another snippet of news coming off of last night's Raw is War is that it is apparently unknown whether the spot where Eddie Guerrero got "injured" was a work or a shoot. Some have said that it was all part of the script, whereas others have pointed out that the injury certainly looked legit and may have been "real" after all. I've heard that Eddie looked to be feeling some discomfort in his elbow after falling outside the ring during his match with Chris Jericho. There has even been speculation since last night suggesting that Eddie may not be fit for No Mercy, where he will defend his Intercontinental title against Mr. Ass, but it is most likely that he will be fit come Sunday's ppv.
